Fisher folks oppose Shivaji Memorial

Mumbai - The Maharashtra Machchimar Kruti Samiti has opposed the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj memorial in the Arabian Sea. The fisher folks’ committee staged the protest on Friday. Damodar Tandel, president of the committee, said that the government has brought out a tender even after an appeal is pending before the National Green Tribunal (NGT). The BJP and MLA Vinayak Mete are hurrying to implement the thousands of crore worth project to earn commission, alleged Tandel. The government has informed the NGT that there is no fishing activities carried out in the area where the memorial is to be built. Contrary to this, Tandel claimed that there are 150 kinds of sea animals including 40 kinds of crabs available in the said area in the sea.
