Memorial statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj to be constructed in the Arabian sea is one of the most aspiring project of Maharashtra Government. Fisher folk have asked the government to shift the location from the Arabian sea.
Fisher Folk who are organising Ganesha Pandal for past 37 years, this year have portrayed their plight through decoration of Pandal & Bappa's idol. Ganesha idol can be seen riding fishes away from the location where Shivaji's statue is proposed to be built.
For fishermen whose sea catch has reduced in the past few years, the set up of statue will also curtail their movement in the sea as visitors will be taking ferries to reach the pont.
Species of various fishes are in danger, now Bappa is the lone saviour of fishermen & their fishes.
