Veteran leader Ram Naik, who started his political career from Mumbai, is set to enter active politics once again after completing his term as the Uttar Pradesh Governor. As per the sources, Naik will sign up as the primary member of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Mumbai. 

Naik will take primary membership of the party at the BJP office in Mumbai, a source informed. The veteran leader has held Petroleum and natural gas portfolio at the Union level and has represented Mumbai North constituency three-times in the Lok Sabha elections. 

However, earlier, Ram Naik had declared that he won’t be contesting the 2014 Lok Sabha elections and was later appointed as the Governor of Uttar Pradesh.

Naik was defeated in the 2004 Lok Sabha polls by Bollywood Actor Govinda and in 2009, the veteran leader was defeated by Congress’ Sanjay Nirupam. Naik has also served as an MLA in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly.
