As the Maharashtra Assembly elections draw closer, there has been a stir caused amongst political parties. Numerous senior party leaders have joined opposition parties, some of them even joining the parties despite the long rivalry.

On July 29, senior Congress leader Kalidas Kolambkar announced his resignation from the party and is expected to join Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday.

Along with Kolambkar, several other leaders from other parties will be joining BJP. Earlier this week, Maharashtra cabinet minister Girish Mahajan had claimed that more than 50 opposition party leaders would join BJP prior to Maharashtra Assembly elections.

Earlier on Thursday, senior NCP leader Sachin Ahir joined Shiv Sena in the presence of Yuva Sena chief Aditya Thackeray ahead of the upcoming Maharashtra assembly elections. This invited huge criticism from the senior NCP leaders.

Remarkably, Maharashtra Irrigation Minister Girish Mahajan had informed that Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil will join BJP after BJP had won the Lok Sabha 2019 elections.
