In another setback to Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) ahead of the Maharashtra assembly elections, senior leader Ganesh Naik is set to join the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday. Along with Naik, 50 Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation corporators will also join BJP.

Maharashtra BJP spokesperson Madhav Bhandari confirmed the induction of senior leader Ganesh Naik into the party. Bhandari informed that several other leaders are in touch and will join BJP in future.

Ganesh Naik will join BJP in the presence of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, sources informed.

Ganesh Naik started his political career with Shiv Sena in the year 1990. However, the senior leader joined NCP in 1999. In the 2014 assembly elections, Naik lost against BJP candidate with a margin of 1,500 votes.
