Maharashtra Legislature Secretariat in Mumbai receives bomb threat; no suspicious object found

The Maharashtra Legislature Secretariat (Mantralaya) in Mumbai received a bomb threat at 12:40pm on Sunday, May 30, 2021. Upon receiving this information, the control room informed the Mumbai Police which reached the spot with the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) for further investigation.

As per reports, Police confirmed the same to be a hoax call, however, further investigation continued through the day.

Talking about the same, a Mumbai Police officer, earlier during the day, told ANI, "Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad doing checking at Maharashtra Legislature Secretariat after a call at control room saying bomb placed in. Prima facie, it seems to be a hoax call. Further inquiry is being conducted: Mumbai Police."

 

The PRO from Mumbai Police, later on Sunday, confirmed that the search operation at Mantralaya premises was completed and no suspicious object was found.

Reports state that a Nagpur-based individual named Sagar called the office at 12.40 pm and informed about the bomb, post which the concerned departments were on alert to investigate the matter. Security was strengthened for safety purposes, and the details were shared with the Disaster Management Control Room.
