Mulund: BJP MP Kirit Somaiya’s son Neil has got a ticket from ward 108 to contest the civic elections on a BJP party ticket.
It’s the first time that Neil Somiya is entering the city's political arena and he needs to prove his mettle. Getting a party ticket was easy for the 27 year old because of his father's position in the party, but winning the seat is not going to be so easy as he is a fresher to the field and winning here depends ultimately on the votes. Neil filed his nomination papers on Thursday.
Neil was in the news last February when he hurt his hand seriously in an accident at home, reportedly when he was in an inebriated condition. Reports of a suicide attempt were dismissed by the family. Neil is now back in the news, but for his political debut. Will he too leave a mark on the city's political scene? Time should tell.
