Thane Constituency has been a stronghold for Shiv Sena for several years since other than a few exceptions, the Thackeray-led party has ruled the seat for 18 years. In 2009, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) candidate Sanjeev Naik had won the election from the constituency but in 2014, Sena candidate Rajan Vichare managed to win the seat.

Seeing this, the party has once again trusted Vichare and fielded him from Thane constituency.


Rajan Vichare has studied till Class XI from Somaiya College.

Political Career

Vichare comes from a middle-class family and has been an ardent supporter of Shiv Sena's ideology. He joined the party in 1985 and has been associated with the party since then.

In 2006, Vichare was elected as the Mayor of the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) and later was elected in the Legislative Assembly. In 2014, the Sena leader became the member of the Lok Sabha.


Rajan Vichare possesses movable assets worth ₹2 crore whereas his wife possesses movable assets worth ₹1.22 crore. On the other hand, the Sena leader possesses real estate property worth ₹11.76 crore whereas his wife possesses ₹2.82 crore of real estate property.


In 2014 national election, Rajan Vichare was elected as an MP by a huge margin of votes and Shiv Sena has named him again to contest the 2019 Lok Sabha poll from Thane constituency. Earlier, NCP and Congress alliance didn’t do well in the assembly and Thane municipal elections. However, NCP candidate Anand Paranjpe can give a tough fight to Vichare given that the former is highly educated and can attract young voters.
