Mumbai – To save his government and his position, chief minister Devendra Fadnavis has deceived Mumbaikars by withdrawing his party from the election for the mayoral election, alleged Ashok Chavan, president of Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee.

Chavan, while reacting to the CM’s announcement of withdrawal from the fray in the mayoral election, alleged that the BJP has forgotten the issue of transparency in the BMC. He has preferred to save to his chair over corruption-free administration in the BMC.

“Our stand that Shiv Sena and BJP were trying to divert the attention of electorates in Mumbai by raising the issue of transparency was only a gimmick is proven. The BJP’s withdrawal from the mayoral race also proved that this party has deceived the voters,” said Chavan.

The Shiv Sena and the BJP had levelled serious allegations against each other during the BMC electioneering. BJP had alleged that the Sena is a party of extortionists and it runs the BMC on the percentage basis. Now, why the BJP gave the rule of BMC in the hands of Sena goons and mafias, asked Chavan.
