Senior Congress leader Manikrao Thakre on Friday stated that the next Chief Minister of Maharashtra will be from Shiv Sena while clarifying that Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has not demanded the CM post.

It was being speculated that the Sharad Pawar-led NCP has demanded the CM post during the meetings on Maharashtra government formation with Congress in Delhi. However, the senior Congress leader denied the same.

The Chief Minister of Maharashtra will be from the Shiv Sena. The NCP did not demand the CM post at state-level meetings. The Congress also didn’t place any such demands,” said Congress leader Manikrao Thakre.

While speaking to the media, Thakre stated that the three parties – Congress, NCP and Shiv Sena – will sit together on Friday evening.

The three parties will sit together to clarify some pending issue and will decide the time to approach Maharashtra Governor to stae claim for forming the government,” said Manikrao Thakre.

Thakre’s statement came before NCP and Congress’ joint meeting with pre-poll alliance partners in Mumbai. Senior Congress leaders including Ahmed Patel and Mallikarjun Kharge also visited Mumbai today.
