Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray on Thursday reminded the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of the 50-50 deal that was sealed before the Lok Sabha elections this year. This comes after the assembly election results gave a majority to the BJP and Shiv Sena alliance in Maharashtra. 

While addressing a press conference at Shiv Sena Bhavan in Mumbai, Thackeray expressed his happiness on the victory his son (Aditya Thackeray) from Worli assembly constituency. However, Uddhav Thackeray also stated that BJP must honour the 50-50 power-sharing formula. 

We compromised on seat sharing and agreed to contest on fewer seats but we will not be generous every time. We decided on 50-50 formula for seat sharing and power-sharing before Lok Sabha,” said Uddhav Thackeray.

Focusing on 50-50 power-sharing formula, Uddhav Thackeray said that his party will discuss the same with BJP high command. Thackeray informed that they will meet Union Minister Amit Shah and if the 50-50 formula doesn’t work out, they’ll look for an alternative. 

Although Uddhav Thackeray didn’t speak about Sena’s intension to appoint Aditya Thackeray as the next Chief Minister but replied, “only time will tell”.

In Maharashtra, Shiv Sena won on 55 seats out of 124 while Aditya Thackeray became the first in his family to contest and win the assembly polls. The Yuva Sena chief got 69.14 per cent votes from Worli assembly constituency.
