Maharashtra assembly session 2021 to be held in Mumbai

The winter session of the Maharashtra state assembly is expected to be held from December 20-29, 2021. As per reports, the same has been moved from Nagpur to Mumbai and a decision regarding the same will be taken by the officials in a few days. Preliminary discussions for the assembly have been conducted, however, the final decision is yet to be taken.

The session was earlier scheduled for December 7, 2021, however, the dates were revised after the code of conduct was implemented for the upcoming legislative council. Meanwhile, the Indian Express also quoted a minister who informed the publication about Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray’s health. It is being said that the CM is recovering from his recent spine surgery due to which his travel movements have been restricted, due to which the assembly will have to be held in Mumbai.

The winter session of the assembly is always held in Nagpur, and leaders from all the parties were looking forward to the same being held there, however, due to CM’s health related constraints, Shiv Sena has sought permission for the same to be held in Mumbai. A final decision will be taken soon by the Business Advisory Committee. 

CM is currently undergoing physiotherapy which was advised by the doctors post his surgery owing to cervical issues. His health is said to be stable and will be discharged soon from Mumbai’s HN Reliance Hospital. A statement was released by the secretariat recently. 

On the other hand, election for the six seats of the Maharashtra Legislative Council were announced recently and as per the directives issued, the process will be held from five local constituencies.
