The highly anticipated Maharashtra cabinet expansion could transpire this weekend, reported the Indian Express. According to the report, nearly 30 ministers will be introduced in the first of the two-phase expansion. It claimed that the cabinet has been finalised by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, with the swearing-in likely to be undertaken on Friday, July 22.

The state cabinet can include 43 ministers, comprising the CM. It is anticipated that the cabinet will include members from the BJP and Shinde's Shiv Sena camp. Last month, the BJP with Shinde's rebel camp that entailed 40 Shiv Sena rebels as well as ten independents formed the government

Based on the narrative, a formula has been decided where two-thirds of the minister will be from the BJP, while the remaining will be from Shinde's faction. Further, it alleged that senior BJP party leaders such as Chandrakant PatilRadhakrishna Vikhe PatilSudhir MungantiwarGirish Mahajan, Jayakumar Rawal, and Ashish Shelar could get priority.

The account also claimed that Shive Sena's nine rebel ministers who walked out of Thackeray's government to join Shinde could be, in phases, accommodated in the cabinet.

Shinde had earlier also hinted that there may be a cabinet expansion soon. He was quoted by PTI saying, "Soon, there will be a cabinet expansion. We are making decisions for the people of Maharashtra. We don't find it necessary to answer what others are saying."
