CM Uddhav Thackeray asks authorities to complete the BDD redevelopment work

In a meeting held on Friday, September 4, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has asked the officials to expedite the redevelopment planned at Worli, NM Joshi Marg and BDD plots in Naigaon.

Addressing the concerns, he said that special camp should be organized at the place to expedite the process of checking the eligibility and documents of the tenants. Currently, there are 9600 tenants in BDD Chali in Worli and keeping the process in mind, authorities should complete the work within the stipulated time, for which Deputy Collectors or Deputy Tehsildars should be appointed by the concerned department.

Meanwhile, NM Joshi Marg has 32 hutments with 2500 tenants; and Naigaon has 42 hutments with 3300 tenants. Observing the project timelines, CM has also directed that the development work at these locations should be started immediately by relocating the tenants and addressing the problems in the redevelopment process

Sharing more thought, Principal Secretary of the Housing department, SVR Srinivas, stated the facts about the redevelopment of BDD plots and the projects. The process has been stalled for the last three years due to various reasons, and after thorough discussion, CM Thackeray one should get their houses as planned and all the related problems should be addressed by all means. He further emphasised that the redevelopment should be done in a timely manner and should be reviewed every few days.

The meeting was also attended by Environment Minister Aditya Thackeray, Principal Advisor to the Chief Minister Ajoy Mehta, Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister Ashish Kumar Singh, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Vikas Kharge, and officials from Tata Housing and L&T.
