Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray visits flood-hit Sangli

Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray on Monday visited the flood-impacted areas in the Sangli district of the state. He also interacted with the victims of the flood-affected area of Bhilwadi area. During the course of the visit, Thackeray assured the people that the administration will take steps to provide all possible help, including food, clothing, medicines, and temporary shelter to the flood-affected people.

The Maha Vikas Aghadi government will provide all possible help to those who have been affected by floods. Thackeray said after touring some flood-affected villages of Bhilwadi.

Heavy rains had battered the state last month and caused havoc all around. More than 300 people have lost their lives due to these floods. Talking to news agencies, Maharashtra, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Monday said there is a need to devise a "permanent solution" to the frequent flood crisis in the state and take some stringent steps towards it. The chief minister reached the flood-hit Sangli district in western Maharashtra where he visited Bhilwadi, Ankalkhop, Kasbe-Digraj and various other areas to take stock of the situation.

Last Monday, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar toured various rain-hit villages in Sangli district on Monday and used a rescue boat to reach out to flood victims in some areas. Pawar also interacted with the flood-affected people and assured them of rehabilitation and all help from the state government.

During Thackeray's visit to Sangli, a violent clash broke out between police and Bharatiya Janata Party workers. This happened as the traders and BJP party workers tried to stop Chief Minister Uddhav Thackery's convoy at Harbat Road to make a statement to him. Visuals of the same have gone viral on the social media.
