Ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha and Maharashtra assembly elections, Maharashtra Congress proposed to form several committees in the same interest including Maharashtra Pradesh Election Committee (MPEC), Publicity Committee, Media Coordination Committee, Manifesto Committee, Election Management Committee, and Coordination Committee.  

Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday approved the same.  All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary for Maharashtra Mallikarjun Kharge will head the Coordination Committee. Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president Ashok Chavan will lead MPEC. Senior Congress leader Sushil Kumar Shinde will lead the Campaign committee. 

Media Committee for the state will be headed by renowned Journalist Kumar Ketkar and former Mumbai University Vice-Chancellor (VC) Dr Bhalchandra Mungekar will lead the manifesto committee.

Maharashtra Congress has also appointed new presidents for 13 district committees in Maharashtra including Raigad, Ulhasnagar, Mira-Bhayendra, Panvel, Nashik, Vardha, Jalgaon, Chandrapur, Jalona, Osmanabad, Kolhapur (Rural), Satara, and Navi Mumbai.
