Shiv Sena had already started its poll campaign ahead of 2019 Maharashtra assembly elections and had tried to keep an upper hand in its alliance with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for the assembly polls which are scheduled on October 21. 

Meanwhile, as per the media reports, Mumbai Mayor, and Shiv Sena leader, Vishwanath Mahadeshwar is likely to contest assembly elections from Bandra East constituency. BJP has left the Bandra East assembly seat for Sena to field its candidate. 

Close aides to Mahadeshwar informed that Sena will soon provide him with an A-B form to file his nomination for the assembly elections in Maharashtra. 

Moreover, Shiv Sena leaders at Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said that Mahadeshwar was asked by senior party leaders to prepare for the assembly polls around last year and work on the ground.

Mahadeshwar is currently a Shiv Sena corporator from Santacruz East and has remained loyal to the party for 35 years.
