Taking a dig at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) Chief Raj Thackeray criticised the opposition party on the first day of his six-day tour of Marathwada region. The MNS chief accused BJP to have tweaked Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) to win the elections.

Thackeray said “Caste politics is underway in the state. It’s unfortunate that polling is influenced by differences in castes in Maharashtra. The BJP and Nationalist-Congress Party (NCP) are together messing up the politics in the state. Maharashtra is doomed if this chaos continues.”

Thackeray also told the reporters that the BJP-led NDA government won’t return to power in 2019 as it has “failed” on all the fronts and that Shiv Sena and BJP won’t return to power in 2019. “The EVMs had helped the BJP win the elections in the past. Otherwise, how can any candidate get zero votes in polls?” he questioned.

MNS suffered major setbacks in the assembly and Lok Sabha elections held in 2014. The regional party had performed impressively well in the 2009 Maharashtra Assembly Polls.
