Amid the controversy over the release of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s biopic, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) has demanded the resignation of Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) chairman Prasoon Joshi, alleging that special treatment is being given to the film. 

The Modi biopic titled 'PM Narendra Modi' directed by Omung Kumar is set to release on April 11 which is also the first day of Lok Sabha elections. MNS Film unit President Amey Khopkar asserted that the biopic was given certificate ignoring the censor board rules. 

While demanding Joshi’s resignation, Khopkar further informed that as per the censor board rules the makers need to submit the copy of the movie 58 days before the exhibition.

Other opposition parties such as Congress have also spoken against the release of the biopic amid Lok Sabha polls, saying that it violates the model code of conduct. Congress has alleged that this movie is being released to influence the voters.
