Keeping in mind the upcoming Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections in 2022, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has started its search for the President of party’s Mumbai unit.

The speculations suggest that BJP is looking to replace the current party’s Mumbai unit, President Mangal Pratap Lodha. Meanwhile, the chance of Chandrakant Patil remaining the Maharashtra BJP President is high. Senior BJP leader Chandrakant Patil will likely be retained on his post at party level.

The BJP is organising its ‘Adhiveshan’ (conclave) in Maharashtra on February 16 in Navi Mumbai which will be launched by newly elected BJP President JP Nadda.

The event will be chaired by current Maharashtra BJP President Chandrakant Patil and will be attended by the Leader of Opposition (LoP) in Maharashtra assembly Devendra Fadnavis, LoP in Maharashtra council Praveen Darekar, Sudhir Mungantiwar, Eknath Khadse, Panakaja Munde, Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil, along with other leaders.

Senior BJP leader Chandrakant Patil will likely continue to be the party’s state unit President. Patil is considered a close aide to, former BJP President and Union Home Minister, Amit Shah. Therefore, it will not be wrong to assume that Patil will remain the BJP President in Maharashtra.

Meanwhile, senior BJP leaders including Panakaja Munde and Eknath Khadse are also keen to grab this post. Both the leaders had earlier expressed their disappointment with BJP’s leadership in Maharashtra. This happened after the BJP was unable to form government in the state.
