The Lower Parel Bridge on N M Joshi Marg was closed for traffic a few years back as it became dangerous. The work of this bridge was stopped due to various reasons. Hence, the problem of traffic congestion in Lower Parel and surrounding areas became complex. The work of the south channel on this bridge has been completed and the BMC intended to open this bridge for traffic in three-four days after completing the works of street lights, route design, painting etc.

Despite this, under the leadership of Aaditya Thackeray, on Thursday, November 16, the roadblock on the south channel of the bridge was removed, coconuts were broken and it was declared open for traffic. This channel has not been stability tested yet. Therefore, since it is dangerous to transport through this channel, Municipal Corporation's secondary engineer Purushottam Ingle said. A complaint was filed against Aditya Thackeray, Sunil Shinde, Sachin Ahir, Kishori Pednekar, Snehal Ambekar and 15 to 20 unknown persons at N M Joshi Marg police station. Taking note of Ingle's complaint, the police registered a case against Aaditya Thackeray along with all of them around 3.22 am on Saturday morning.
