After a video went viral of Mayor Vishwanath Mahadeshwar is allegedly manhandling a woman, Mumbai Mahila Congress (Women cell) has demanded that the Mayor should be put behind bars. 

In a video, which went viral on social media, Mumbai Mayor Vishwanath Mahadeshwar can be seen manhandling a woman protestor. However, the Mayor has rejected the allegations saying that he knows how to behave with women. 

I also have a mother, wife and daughter. I am well aware of how to conduct myself around women," Mayor Vishwanath Mahadeshwar said in his defence. 

As this incident happened, the Mahila Congress leaders met Senior Inspector of Nirmal Nagar police station situation at Khar East and complained in written while demanding that a case be registered against Mahadeshwar under section 354 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

On Sunday, amid heavy rains, a woman and her son were electrocuted in Santacruz. After the incident, Mayor Vishwanath Mahadeshwar visited the victim's family on Monday which led to a clash.

During the Mayor’s visit, the agitated locals were protesting before the dead bodies. In the protest, Mayor Mahadeshwar can be seen twisting the hand of women protestor while saying “you don’t know who I am”. After the video of the incident went viral, the Mayor invited huge criticism for his alleged behaviour.
