Founder of Shiv Sena Balasaheb Thackeray's statue is all set to be relocated at Fort's M.G. Road. The nine-foot-tall statue will be built at the traffic junction opposite Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya Museum. The proposal for the same was approved by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Tuesday, January 21.

The statue was proposed to be built opposite Regal Theatre and near Maharashtra State Police Headquarters, however, it has now been shifted opposite to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya Museum due to technical issues. The statue was going to be unveiled to the public on January 23 which is also celebrated as former Shiv Sena chief Balasaheb Thackeray's birth anniversary. However, the unveiling will be postponed.

On the occasion of Balasaheb's birth anniversary, Raj Thackeray will be holding a mega rally in Goregaon on Thursday, January 23. According to reports, Maharashtra Navanirman Sena (MNS) has changed its party flag from blue, saffron and green to only saffron with its symbol now being Chhatrapati Shivaji's raj mudra (stamp) hinting towards changing its ideology from pro-Marathi to Hindutva. Raj Thackeray had recently met former Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and therefore hints towards a possibility of BJP-MNS alliance.

Notably, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation had also recently proposed that the first e-vehicle charging point will be set up at Hutatma Chowk, which happens to be near M.G. Road. This will be a charging point for 'A' ward which comprises areas like Churchgate, Colaba and Fort.
