A public interest litigation (PIL) has been filed in the Bombay High Court seeking a Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe into the plane crash that allegedly led to the death of Ajit Pawar. The petition was submitted by RTI activist Ketan Tirodkar, who has raised concerns about possible irregularities and unanswered questions surrounding the incident.
The plea questions whether proper aviation safety norms were followed and whether there were technical or operational lapses before the crash. It also seeks clarity on the aircraft’s airworthiness status and communication between the pilot and air traffic control.
The petition names the state government, the Chief Minister’s Office, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), the State CID, and MLA Rohit Pawar as respondents.
The petitioner has urged the court to direct the formation of an SIT under CID supervision and to appoint a committee headed by retired judges along with aviation experts to ensure an independent and transparent investigation. The PIL further requests that all relevant documents be examined and that a final report be submitted within a specified time frame.
