Prakash Ambedkar should not teach us secularism: NCP chief Sharad Pawar

BBM chief Prakash Ambedkar earlier said that Sharad Pawar is secular but his party (NCP) is not

After Bharip Bahujan Mahasangh (BBM) announced an alliance with All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul Muslimeen (AIMIM) for the upcoming elections next year, party chief Prakash Ambedkar met with criticisms and speculations about Congress distancing itself from the alliance.

However, while speaking at a press conference earlier, Ambedkar clarified that BBM is open to forming an alliance with the Congress till the end of the day but will not ally with Nationalist Congress Party as it is not “secular”.

Taking a dig at the BBM chief, NCP chief Sharad Pawar said that Ambedkar should not teach them secularism. Pawar informed that Ambedkar took NCP’s help during elections earlier.

Prakash Ambedkar took NCP’s help in two elections that BBM contested in Akola and NCP workers helped him. Were they not secular at that time?” said NCP chief Sharad Pawar.

A few years ago, Ambedkar’s party made Neelam Gorhe contest elections to defeat an NCP candidate which ultimately benefited Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Pramod Mahajan, Pawar further said, adding that such people should not comment on secularism.
