Ahead of Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha polls next year, Bharipa Bahujan Mahasangh (BBM) chief and Dalit leader Prakash Ambedkar on Thursday said that his party is open to an alliance with Congress but not with Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).

Speaking on the alliance of Congress and NCP, Ambedkar said that the decision has created an atmosphere of concern. However, BBM is open for discussion regarding the alliance with other parties, he said.

Sharad Pawar is secular but that is not the case with his party as his party member from Satara spoke in favour of Sambhaji Bhide. I am open to forming ties with Congress but not with NCP.” he further added.

While addressing the media, Ambedkar claimed that Sharad Pawar’s NCP is not “secular”. Earlier, the Dalit leader announced that BBM will ally with All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) to contest elections in 2019.

For the last few days, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat spoke in a conclave organised by the organisation.  Commenting on the remarks made by Bhagwat, the Dalit Leader said that Bhagwat doesn’t believe in the constitution but follows Golwalkar’s thoughts. Thus, Bhagwat is spreading the thoughts of the second chief of RSS, M.S. Golwalkar, thoughts written in his books.

Ambedkar informed that Golwalkar’s thoughts identify Hindus as the primary religion for the nation and defies other religions. These thoughts are highly dangerous for a homogeneous society, he added.
