Patil, Maharashtra Minister of Excise and Labour, said that he will return to serve the public as soon as possible.

Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Dilip Walse Patil has tested positive for the coronavirus. He took to Twitter to inform that his test reports have come back positive for COVID-19 and advised those who came in close contact with him to get themselves tested. 

“I recently had a Corona test and the reports came back positive. I am in good health and have no problem. As a precautionary measure, I am taking treatment on the advice of a doctor. Those who come in contact with me should test the corona as a precaution,” Patil tweeted. 

Patil, Maharashtra Minister of Excise and Labour, said that he will return to serve the public as soon as possible. The minister was present at Mantralaya for a cabinet meeting but left for his residence as soon as he was informed about his corona test report. 

Several leaders in Maharashtra have tested positive for the coronavirus in the past few days including Leader of Opposition (LoP) Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, NCP MP Sunil Tatkare and Union Minister Ramdas Athawale. 

17 ministers in the Uddhav Thackeray cabinet including Patil and Pawar have tested positive for the coronavirus till now. However, most of them have recovered from the virus and resumed their work. 

Earlier, State Higher and Technical Education Minister Uday Samant, Public Works Minister Ashok Chavan, Housing Minister Jitendra Awhad, Urban Development Minister Eknath Shinde, Energy Minister Nitin Raut, Mumbai City Guardian Minister Aslam Sheikh, Sunil Kedar, Varsha Gaikwad, Vishwajeet Kadam, Dhananjay Munde, Jitendra Awhad, Abdul Sattar, Balasaheb Patil, Hasan Mushrif and Sanjay Bansode, all of them had tested positive for the contagious disease.
