Nariman Point – The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) will work with the secular parties, said NCP state president Sunil Tatkare on Saturday. He was addressing a press conference after the meeting of party office-bearers across the state.
The NCP had taken a stand not to forge any alliance with the Shiv Sena and the BJP for recently held elections across the state. As per our review, the BJP has secured its majority in three Zilla Parishads while NCP has succeeded in two Zilla Parishads. The Congress has majority in Sindhudurg district while Shiv Sena can form its rule in Ratnagiri Zilla Parishad while in some other ZPs, there is a hung house. In such ZPs, the NCP will support the secular parties, Tatkare announced.
The meetings of NCP will be organized at all levels in the state and we will build our party, he added.
We are keenly watching the movements taking place in the BMC. The NCP will not strengthen the casteist parties, Tatkare emphasised.
We have convened our stand to the Congress party for coming together in Osmanabad ZP and Congress would soon take a call in this regard, he said.
Tatkare also raised the issue of scam in the EVMs as agitations across the state are being staged. The NCP would take a stand on this in the meeting to be held on March 7, he added.
