Mumbai – Leader of opposition in State Legislative Assembly, Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil, submitted a breach of privilege against State Bank of India’s chairperson Arundhati Bhattacharya to the Assembly Speaker. Bhattacharya had given a statement against loan waiver for farmers and by doing this she has breached the privilege of the Legislature, alleged Vikhe Patil.

“Arundhati Bhattacharya is not a ‘policy maker’. She has no right to take a decision on loan waiver for farmers. It is the privilege of the Legislature,” said Vikhe Patil.

He also claimed that the statements of Bhattacharya are against the rights of the Legislature and hence she should express apology publicly. As she failed to do so, the breach of privilege motion has been brought against her, Vikhe Patil said.

Meanwhile, state finance minister Sudhir Mungantiwar said that every person has the right to put his opinion. Such motions would be required to bring against politicians who make such statements outside the Legislature, he added.
