The voting process for the Palghar Lok Sabha by-election was halted on Monday due to the technical difficulties in EVM machines of 22 polling booths. However, the state’s main election officer told that the defected devices have been changed and the polling process has started peacefully.

Election Commission (EC) official informed that sometimes problems arise due to technical reasons and these machines are given replacements. As of now, for the polling in Palghar, these machines have been changed in accordance with the protocol.

“The polling won’t be cancelled or postponed. After the technical difficulties, alternatives have been provided. Everyone has the right to vote, and no one will be deprived of this right. Votes can be registered by 6 PM, in booths where voting has been delayed due to the technical difficulties. If the technical difficulty remains, the voter can cast his or her vote on a ballot paper.” Shirish Mohod, Deputy Commissioner, Election Commissioner.
