Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday said that people in Maharashtra will teach Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and Congress a lesson in the upcoming assembly elections over their views against the removal of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir.

“Congress should be ashamed,” said Shah, adding that Rahul Gandhi’s remarks on the abrogation of Article 370 were used by Pakistan in its petition to UN on Kashmir. Moreover, Amit Shah said that Congress always thought of vote-bank politics when it comes to national security.

Rahul Gandhi and Sharad Pawar say that BJP has not done the right thing by revoking Article 370. I want to know the purpose behind Gandhi’s opposition on the issue. People of the country support Modi government on this,” Union Home Minister Amit Shah said while addressing a rally in Solapur.

Shah further lashed out at Congress for breaking the tradition of opposition supporting the government on all issues of national interest. The Home Minister said that Atal Bihari Vajpayee supported Indira Gandhi during the 1971 war with Pakistan.

Shah said that if Rahul Gandhi wants to contest elections based on the removal of Article 370, they have no worries as people support the Modi government on this issue.

Rahul Gandhi had earlier raised his voice against the violence and killing in Kashmir, as per the reports in International media, following several protests in the valley against the abrogation of Article 370 which stripped J&K of its special status.
