Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) newly elected President, JP Nadda on Sunday addressed the party leaders and workers in a conclave in Navi Mumbai and announced that the party will contest the upcoming elections alone in Maharashtra.

On February 15 and 16, Maharashtra BJP leaders met in Navi Mumbai for the first time after the party was not able to form a government in the state despite being the largest party in the assembly polls.

While addressing the gathering on Sunday ahead of the upcoming Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) elections, JP Nadda said that the BJP will use this opportunity to work as a quality opposition. The BJP will contest and win Maharashtra without a coalition, Nadda added.

“You will have to prepare yourself for a fight between all versus the BJP. I want to assure you that we will be victorious and no can stop us,” JP Nadda said.

The BJP President also attacked the Shiv Sena over government formation in Maharashtra saying that it was an insult to the mandate given by people.

“The people gave mandate to the BJP and it was ignored for personal gains. This resulted in an unnatural and unrealistic alliance in Maharashtra,” BJP President JP Nadda said.

After the Maharashtra assembly polls results were declared, there was a political deadlock in the state which was broken only after Shiv Sena formed an alternative government with Congress and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) while ditching the BJP.

The tension between Shiv Sena and BJP was over the Chief Ministerial post which intensified and led to the break-up of the saffron alliance in Maharashtra.

The BJP President also stated that the people in Maharashtra will be witness difference of opinions within this alliance between Congress, NCP and Shiv Sena.

“There will be comments on Savarkar in this alliance and the king (CM Uddhav Thackeray) will remain quite. Shivaji will be insulted and the king will watch. This is natural reaction in unnatural alliance,” said JP Nadda.
