Republican Party of India (RPI) founder Ramdas Athawale is known for his unique way of poetry recital and entertaining the leaders from the ruling party as well as opposition through his poetry. In parliamentary proceedings earlier, Athawale has managed to bring laughter in the process by reciting his self-written poetries.

On Wednesday, after Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Om Birla was elected as the Lok Sabha speaker, Athawale decided to address the lower house while praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi and speaker Om Birla.

Meanwhile, RPI (A) chief Athawale greeted Congress President Rahul Gandhi on his birthday. Referring to the defeat faced by Congress in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Athawale said, “Rahulji tried very hard but in democracy, people decide their representatives”.

“When it was your (Congress) government I was with you but now that you are not in power I am also not with you,” said Athawale while the lower house burst into laughter.
