Rural Maharashtra flocks to Shivaji Park

SHARES

Shivaji Park - Thousands of followers of the late Shiv Sena founder Bal Thackeray have been visiting Shivaji Park on Thursday to pay homage to the supremo who passed on this day four years ago. This year, Shiv Sena has arranged a set up for rural Sena workers who have come to the city from across Maharashtra. People from Wardha, Latur and Nagpur are in Shivaji Park to pay their respects. “24 of us have come from Sambhaji Nagar district and we have been coming from past three years. We are associated with the Shiv Sena for a long period of time. Whenever we come, we don’t spend a rupee as Mumbai's Shiv Sainiks provide us with proper food and shelter,” said Shivaji Tompe, a Shiv Sainik himself. Likewise, Amol, another Shiv Sainik shared the same sentiment. “We have come from Jalna and reached Mumbai on 16 November and will return after paying homage to the late Bal Thackeray. Whenever we come here we became nostalgic and then we feel that he should come back”, said an emotional Amol Sonawne.
