Mumbai – The Shiv Sena has opposed the suspension of 19 MLAs and appealed to the chief minister to revoke this suspension.

The Sena delegation including transport minister Diwakar Raote, industries minister Subhash Desai, environment minister Ramdas Kadam, MLAs Sunil Prabhu, Vijay Auti and Anil Kadam met chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday to raise this issue. The Sena has termed the suspension of opposition MLAs as wrong and put the government on backfoot.

The government had suspended 19 opposition MLAs for creating chaos on the issue of loan waiver for farmers during the presentation of the state budget. Protesting against this suspension, MLAs of Congress and NCP wore black ribbons on Wednesday. The leaders of opposition parties also held a meeting with the Speaker in which CM Devendra Fadnavis had also participated. As the meeting failed to bear results, the opposition leaders met Governor C. Vidyasagar Rao seeking revocation of the suspension.

Condemning government on the suspension of MLAs, former finance minister Jayant Patil while talking to Mumbai Live alleged that the government has murdered democracy by suspending the opposition party MLAs.
