Amid the political chaos in Rajasthan over the release of “audio tapes” allegedly exposing the plot to topple Ashok Gehlot government, Shiv Sena in its ‘Saamana’ editorial said that it needs to be decided whether tapping phones was a bigger crime or bringing down an elected-government using money.

Shiv Sena labelled the Rajasthan government’s move to tap phones as an attack on personal freedom while also stating that bringing down a democratically elected government using money is betrayal.

Referring to the political stir in Rajasthan, Shiv Sena said that attempts are being made to weaken the opponents trying to topple their governments in the states. It further stated that the differences in Congress are being created by some people who intend for Rahul Gandhi to not succeed.

In its editorial, the Shiv Sena that such things, in turn, hurt the entire opposition. Sena, one of the ruling party in Maharashtra, further alleged that there was a deal of exchanging money between Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Sachin Pilot to indulge in horse-trading and to brought down the Rajasthan government.

Labelling the ‘secret conversations’ as shocking, the editorial read that Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot exposed that Sachin Pilot’s rebellion over injustice was untrue by bringing out the conversations between Pilot and BJP leaders.

“The central powers pressure and money was used to bring down the Gehlot government and Congress prevented the same from happening,” the editorial read while adding that the central government ordering a probe into the episode of phone tapping was right.

However, Shiv Sena maintained that Pilot’s rebellion was more about money than morality and the offence registered against Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat was based on evidence. The regional party further said that those seeking President’s rule in Rajasthan should make Shekhawat resign first for poaching of MLAs.

The Rajasthan Police registered cases against rebel MLAs from Congress and the FIR registered by Anti-Corruption Bureau mentions the conversations of rebel MLA Bhanwar Lal Sharma with Gajendra Singh. However, both the leaders have denied that their voice was in the audio tape while Sharma went accuse Gehlot of creating fake audios.

Meanwhile, the Union Home Ministry has asked for a report from Chief Secretary of Rajasthan on the allegation of illegal phone tapping after the BJP demanded a CBI probe into the matter.

The Congress has removed Pilot as the Deputy Chief Minister and from his post as the party’s state unit chief. It also suspended rebel MLAs including Sharma and Vishvendra Singh.
