Mumbai – The news in regard to the construction of Theme Park came as the jolt for Shiv Sena. Sena was trying their level best to convert the Mahalaxmi racecourse into the theme park on the lines of Central Park in New York. In May 2013, The Royal Western India Turf Club’s (RWITC) 99-year lease on the land has ended.
As per the GR issued by the state government, government's approval is a must for renewing the lease for the massive open space in the city. The GR relates to schedule ‘W’ properties. BJP has poured cold water on the dreams of Sena converting the 220-acre land in a theme park.
