A social activist from Mumbai has registered a written complaint against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national spokesperson - Sambit Patra - demanding to register an FIR against him for making communal and inflammatory remarks on national television.

Earlier on November 8, Patra made communal remarks against All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) spokesperson Syed Asim Waqar, during an argument on national TV.

After Waqar raised an objection over changing the Ekana International University’s name to Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee University, Patra threatened Waqar saying that he shall remain quiet or else a mosque will be renamed after Lord Vishnu.

The complaint states that the statement made by Patra was intentional and can instigate communal hatred. However, the police have not registered an FIR as of now.
