SHARES

Govandi – We had heard about civic poll candidates distributing clothes, dustbins and food to gain favour with voters. But this is new one for the 2017 civic elections in Mumbai.
Mumbai Live has got hold of a video that has gone viral on social media - in which a Samajwadi Party candidate, Ayesh Shaikh, is seen open distributing packets of cash in exchange for a promise of a vote, although the timeline of the video cannot be established. Shaikh is contesting elections from Chembur's ward number 140.
When Mumbai Live spoke to Shaikh, she denied the allegation and said that the video has been forged. Until the last elections, Shaikh was a Congress corporator but when she did not got the ticket, she decided to contest as an independent candidate. However, she did not win and later joined the SP.
The truth about the video is yet to be established.
