Mumbai - Samajwadi Party has said to remain neutral on the issue of Mayoral election in the BMC.

Samajwadi Party group leader Rais Shaikh said that SP will be neutral on this point. According to Shaikh, Congress, NCP, Samajwadi Party contested the BMC election separately, but now some parties are seen coming together in Mayoral election.

On Saturday, Congress fielded Vitthal Lokre and Winnie D’Souza for the positions of Mayor and Deputy Mayor. Our party was not taken into confidence by the Congress party, he said.

Shaikh further added that they have decided to stand neutral because they do not trust Congress party as it may join hands with the Shiv Sena at last moment.

Shaikh said if Congress is not going with Shiv Sena then Samajwadi Party will think over it.
