Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) leader Ashish Shelar led a delegation of painters and sculptors in a meeting held on Saturday, October 23, with the state Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari at the Raj Bhawan.

While talking to the media persons, Ashish Shelar said that over 10,000 painters and sculptors exhibit their art every year to earn a livelihood. However, since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, there has been no exhibitions. Shelar, while taking a dig at Uddhav Thackeray, said that CM failed to focus on the problems of artists, sculptors and photographers despite being passionate about photography.

The entire section was under hardship during that period. He further said that the government must reach out to these artists and pointed out that states like Karnataka have already extended help to the artists.

Meanwhile, cinema halls have resumed across the state from October 22, Friday. Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has said that permission to operate theatres and cinema halls with an increased seating capacity would be given post-Diwali if the COVID-19 situation is under control.

While talking about the MVA government's criticism against central agencies' probes, he questioned why the government has a problem with central agencies exposing the corruption and drug racket in the state. Minister whose son-in-law was caught for possessing drugs must be kicked out of the cabinet as such people contribute to tarnishing Maharashtra's image, he added further.
