Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan died at 74 on Thursday evening. His son Chirag Paswan informed about the demise of his father via Twitter. Paswan was the cabinet minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution in the Narendra Modi government. 

Paswan, Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) leader, recently underwent heart surgery in a hospital in Delhi. He was hospitalised for the last few weeks and had a long history of suffering from a heart condition. 

“Papa…Now you are not in this world but I know you are always with me wherever you are. Miss you Papa (sic),” Chirag Paswan, who is the LJP chief, tweeted on Thursday evening. 

Paswan is one of the most noted mass leaders of the country. He has been active in politics for more than five decades. The union minister was ailing for quite some time. He had to undergo heart surgery on Saturday due to sudden development.
