Union Minister Ramdas Athawale, whose 'go corona, go' chant became a national sensation, has been felicitated by the Guinness World Record.

At a program organised at New Delhi of India, Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment of India, Ramdas Athawale received a certificate for his remarkable contribution in helping to poor, destitute and labourers during the coronavirus crisis.

Chief of Foreign Affairs Department of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Vijay Jolly, had coordinated the program. Nepal's Minister Rambir Manandhar, Head of the World Book of Records Germany, Willy Jejler, Chairman Dr. Diwakar Shukla, India's Head of the World Book of Records, Rajendra Jaju, among others were present at this occasion, 

In February, a video of Athawale, along with a Chinese diplomat and Buddhist monks chanting 'Go corona, go corona' at a prayer meeting went viral on social media. The video was reportedly shot at the Gateway of India here on February 20 during a prayer session to stop the spread of coronavirus in China.

Athawale (60) is a member of the Rajya Sabha and minister of state for social justice in the Narendra Modi-led government.

While talking to reporters, the minister said that he would be meeting BJP president J P Nadda to discuss a possible alliance for West Bengal Assembly elections. “We expect (BJP to set aside for us) around 10 seats,” he added. The meeting will be held on February 8 in New Delhi. A framework will also be prepared for organizing the party's national convention in the month of June.
