Leader of Opposition (LoP) in Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday attacked Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar over his letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi about the economic package.

While talking to the reporters, senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Devendra Fadnavis said that the Uddhav Thackeray government should also bring out an economic stimulus package for Maharashtra.

“NCP chief Sharad Pawar has written several letters to Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding the economic package suggesting measures to help farmers and industries. He should write a similar letter to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray. The Shiv Sena-led MVA government should announce a package on the lines of the centre,” BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis said after meeting Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari.

The opposition leader further said that all other states are providing relief packages but the Maharashtra government was busy pointing fingers at the central government.

A delegation led by Fadnavis including BJP MLAs Ashish Shelar and Atul Bhatkhalkar, MPs Gopal Shetty and Manoj Kotak and ex-MLA Vinod Tawde met Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari and submitted a memorandum listing various demands. It also warned of statewide agitation against the MVA government.

Fadnavis highlight alarming situation in Maharashtra due to the negligence of Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government in handling COVID-19 crisis and said that 40 per cent of the total deaths in India have been reported from the state.

“The state government has completely failed on several fronts. There is the issue of massive neglect of migrant workers and farmers in Maharashtra are facing various troubles. There is a complete collapse of the health system,” former Maharashtra CM tweeted in Marathi while alleging that the MVA government was hiding COVID-19 patients data and was not following the protocol for deaths related to the virus.
