Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar on Tuesday held a meeting with Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray over the current situation related to the COVID-19 outbreak in the state. 

In the meeting, Pawar suggested ways to bring the state’s economy in line by resuming industries and restoring normalcy steadily. The COVID-19 will not go away anytime soon and that’s why people need to take care of their health considering the coronavirus is here to stay, the NCP chief said. 

The NCP supremo said that mass awareness programme should be undertaken to inform the people on maintaining cleanliness and observing social distancing. 

Furthermore, Pawar also pointed out that the industries are not in a position to resume activities since workers have gone back to their homes due to the lockdown amid coronavirus outbreak. 

The former Union Minister took to Twitter to inform that he held a meeting CM Uddhav Thackeray to discuss the ongoing coronavirus situation including its challenges, prevention measures, relief for different sections. Moreover, Pawar made suggestions regarding various issues like transport, education, agriculture and industries. 

The NCP supremo noted that the COVID-19 pandemic and the lockdown placed to contain the spread of the deadly virus is likely to cause revenue loss to the educational institutes which can possibly lead to their collapse. 

Sharad Pawar has called for drawing up an action plan to incorporate unemployed Marathi youth in the industrial sector where new opportunities have opened as the migrant workers and labourers have migrated to their native places. 

The veteran leader further stated that the shops, offices, private sector establishments should open in phases and it was important to restore normalcy steadily by relaxing certain lockdown-related conditions. 

Moreover, the NCP chief tweeted that ministers and officials should be issued orders to ensure that they are present in their offices which will provide confidence to people that the situation in the state is returning to normalcy.
