Since the death of tigress Avni or T-1 in Yavatmal, animal activists have been protesting against the state government's decision of killing the tigress instead of tranquillising her. Meanwhile, Shiv Sena's Youth wing - Yuva Sena - Chief Aaditya Thackeray has criticised the move on Twitter saying "Ministry of Forest should change their name to Ministry of Poaching."
Thackeray also wrote on Twitter that forest department officials killed Avni, tomorrow they might kill some other animal or her cubs.
On Friday night, forest department officials killed tigress Avni in Yavatmal's forest. In their defence, forest officials issued a statement where they mentioned that they tried tranquillising the tigress but the latter attacked the team, hence, the officials killed her.
