Usually, societies don’t get registered if they don’t possess occupation certificate. However, henceforth, society will be able to register sans OC. The decision of Maharashtra State cooperative societies has come as a relief for various societies. Along with this, even if society needs OC, then members can visit Deputy Registrar for the same. Circular has been issued for the same by the department.
It was a thumb rule that society is formed only when 60% shops are either sold out or 60% residents come together. But now, the rule has changed. Now, 51% shops can be sold out to form a society. “This decision has put society out of their misery,” said Ramesh Prabhu, president, Maharashtra Societies Welfare Association.
