The benchmark indices ended in green, IT stocks gained.
At close, the Sensex was up 134 points or 0.25 per cent at 52,904.05 while the Nifty was up 42 points or 0.26 per cent at 15,853.95.
On the Nifty 50 index, Wipro (7.02 per cent), Tech Mahindra (2.70 per cent), HCL Tech (2.22 per cent), Infosys (2.07 per cent) and Larsen (2.05 per cent) were the top gainers for the day, UPL (-1.47 per cent), Maruti Suzuki (-1.39 per cent), Adani Ports (-0.96 per cent), HUL (-0.90 per cent), Nestle (-0.86 per cent) were the top losers for the day.
On the sectoral front, IT Index gained more than 3 per cent, while Realty, Energy, Finance, Auto and Oil & Gas ended as losers.
The BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices gained 0.21 per cent and 0.24 per cent respectively.
Author’s View: The medium term view remains positive with buying on dips advised. For short term consolidation is expected to continue with resistance between 15,920 – 15,940 zone.
