Nifty and Sensex ended slightly higher led by IT and Financial stocks.
At close, the Sensex was up 97.70 points or 0.19 per cent at 51,115.22, and the Nifty was up 36.40 points or 0.24 per cent at 15,337.90.
About 1657 shares have advanced, 1314 shares declined and 121 shares remain unchanged.
On the Nifty 50 index, Shree Cement (3.65 per cent), SBI (2.82 per cent), Wipro (2.59 per cent), Kotak Mahindra Bank (2.10 per cent) and Axis Bank (2.07 per cent) were the top gainers for the day, while HDFC (-2.29 per cent), IOC (-1.56 per cent), Bajaj Finance (-1.54 per cent), ONGC (-1.32 per cent) and HUL (-1.17 per cent) were the top losers for the day.
On the sectoral front, except Pharma, Realty, Energy and FMCG indices all other sectoral indices ended with slight gains. Nifty Bank (1.18 per cent) and Nifty IT (1.14 per cent) were the top gainers for the day.
The BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices were up 0.54 per cent and 0.34 per cent respectively.
Author’s View: Nifty might move towards 15,600 level. Any intra-day correction can utilized as a buying opportunity.
