Nifty Ends Below 15,700, Sensex Slips 132.28 Points

The benchmark indices closed slightly lower on June 4, 2021 after Reserve Bank of India’s credit policy. The Central bank maintained status quo and kept its stance accommodative.

At close, the Sensex was down 132.28 points or 0.25 per cent at 52,100.05 and the Nifty was down 20.10 points or 0.13 per cent at 15,670.30.

About 1832 shares have advanced, 1279 shares declined and 138 shares remain unchanged.

On the Nifty 50 index, Grasim (3.05 per cent), Tata Motors (2.86 per cent), Bajaj Finserv (2.84 per cent), Coal India (2.72 per cent) and ONGC (2.41 per cent) were the top gainers for the day, while Nestle (-2.09 per cent), SBI (-1.38 per cent), HDFC Bank (-1.29 per cent), ICICI Bank (-1.16 per cent) and Axis Bank (-1.15 per cent) were the top losers for the day.

On the sectoral front, Nifty Bank (-1.00 per cent), Nifty FMCG (-0.36 per cent) Nifty Consumption (-0.35 per cent) were the top losing sectors for the day, while Nifty Metal (1.35 per cent), Nifty Auto (0.83 per cent) and Nifty Realty (0.48 per cent) were the top performing sectors for the day.

The BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices rose 0.63 per cent and 0.78 per cent respectively.

Author’s View: Market may correct a bit and take support at 15,300 level. Traders are advised to build fresh long positions near 15,300 level.
